He was member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 1931 until 1938. The affable Tullaroan man won six Leinster and three All-Ireland hurling titles with Kilkenny between 1931 and 1937, and three senior club titles with Tullaroan.Two years ago, on his 100th birthday, Martin received a specially commissioned 2009 All-Ireland medal to mark his centenary and Kilkenny's four-in-a-row win.
